Myths of the Middle Ages

This workshop aims to inform students on the realities of life in the Middle Ages in Europe. The tropes and myths many people espouse, students will learn, are the creation of later writers seeking to put down centuries of history in order to improve their own time's image. Using evidence and contemporary historical sources, we will explore this frequently misunderstood and mischaracterized era in history to better understand why these myths arose and what the truth of the obscured facts.
